Our Story

Dave and Wendy Adams started The Chimney Doctor in November of 1989 as a part-time business. Dave had a full-time job in construction at the time and did chimney cleaning and repairs in the evenings until 1998. 

When they had their first son and Wendy was home on maternity leave, she began answering the phone during the day. They got so busy that Dave had to quit his framing job and pick up The Chimney Doctor full time.

In 2001 they incorporated.

The Adams opened their first showroom in the Woodland Village shops in Clermont in 2006. 

They had a sign made to hang above our door, “The Chimney Doctor”. After too many people asked them if they sold wind chimes (because they thought the sign said “The Chimey Doctor”), they decided to add the name “Shore Fire”.  After a couple years at the Woodland Village shops, the team outgrew the small showroom and moved into a new showroom in Clermont. Not long after they hired the amazing Theresa to help with the day-to-day. Again, they outgrew space! That led them to their current location on School House Lane in Court House, formerly Croitor Feed. Theresa and her dad owned/operated the feed store for many, many years. When her dad became ill, he needed constant care, so Theresa closed the store and took care of her daddy. 

They moved into the feed store in September of 2018 and have been here ever since. The Adams and Thersea look forward to growing the business in the years to come!
